YLCA Policy on Regional Clubs and Organizational Structure
Disclaimer and Policy Statement
The Yakutian Laika Club of America (YLCA) is the national breed club representing the Yakutian Laika within the United States.
At this time, YLCA does not support, recognize, affiliate with, or sanction any regional, local, or independent Yakutian Laika clubs, organizations, or groups. Any such entities operate independently and without the approval, oversight, or endorsement of YLCA.
The Yakutian Laika is currently enrolled in the Foundation Stock Service (FSS) of the American Kennel Club. Under AKC advancement guidelines, a breed must be represented by a single recognized national parent club in order to progress from FSS and Miscellaneous Class status toward full recognition.
YLCA has confirmed with the American Kennel Club that local or regional Yakutian Laika clubs will not be approved prior to the parent club achieving licensed status. The AKC has further advised that enthusiasts are encouraged to support the national parent club during this developmental period as the breed progresses toward full recognition.
The formation, promotion, or operation of independent regional clubs outside the authority of the parent club during this stage may be inconsistent with AKC guidelines and may delay the breed’s progress toward full recognition.
In order for the Yakutian Laika to advance, the parent club must conduct events, educational programs, and organized activities demonstrating national coordination and participation. Activities conducted outside of the parent club structure may not be recognized toward this progress and may hinder advancement.
Accordingly, all such activities should be coordinated through, approved by, and conducted in the name of the Yakutian Laika Club of America.
Upon achieving licensed status, YLCA will assist, encourage, and guide local enthusiasts in the formation of regional clubs. The AKC maintains specific requirements governing such clubs, including, but not limited to, name approval, geographic territory, membership composition, organizational structure, nonprofit status, and bylaws compliance.
YLCA remains committed to maintaining breed integrity, responsible development, and full compliance with all requirements necessary for recognition.
